Obviously, the fun of riding your Harley is hearing that motor roar. But when you’re ready for a soundtrack, this Focal HDK 165-2014 UP 6-1/2″ component speaker system serves up sound worthy of your bike. Focal makes the most of their famous K2 speaker technology with a nimble Kevlar and glass-fiber woofer and a Tuned Mass Damper (TMD®) rubber surround which minimizes harmonic distortion for the cleanest midrange possible. A separate M-shaped dome compression tweeter provides crisp detail for a vivid overall sound. With power handling up to 125 watts RMS, these speakers conquer road noise and do your music justice.
Special grilles
Focal designed this system’s tweeters into woofer grilles for a compact, smarter build that will help get around the trickiness of custom-mounting tweeters in your Harley.
Overview: The Focal HDK 165 – 2014 UP is a component speaker system designed as a drop-in replacement for the factory speakers on select 2014 and later Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, Road Glide, and Street Glide models.
Grilles: The speakers include two sets of grilles, to fit multiple Harley-Davidson applications.
Installation: The Focal woofers replace the factory fairing speakers. The Focal tweeters are mounted to the Focal grilles, which then replace the factory grilles. Once installed, the tweeters are difficult to remove without damaging the grilles, so confirm you’re using the correct grilles before mounting the tweeters. The installed tweeters protrude approximately ⅝” above the grilles. One end of each included tweeter wire (with in-line crossover) plugs into the wire attached to the tweeter, the other end is spliced into the factory wire going to the woofers.
Factory Equalization: Most Harley-Davidson factory radios use a preset equalizer curve to optimize the factory speaker output. If using the factory radio with these Focal speakers, the radio will need to be re-flashed by the dealership to remove the equalizer curve.
