Can I Really Hear Rear Speakers When I Add Them to My Bike?

We get this question ALL the time at Volunteer Audio, so let us answer it once and for all… YES, of course, you can hear the rear speakers when they’re added to your bike!

When you purchase from Volunteer Audio, we take several steps to ensure you get the best possible sound from your rear speakers:

• Proper Speaker Placement: When installing 6×9” speakers, we use specially designed cut-in kits that position the speaker higher in the lid. This saves space in your bag while angling the speaker toward you for better sound clarity. Most replacement lids don’t provide this benefit.
• Ample Power for Rear Speakers: We make sure the rear speakers are powered correctly so they’re loud enough to be heard even when positioned behind you.
• Customized Amplifier Settings: When using a factory radio, flashing it can cause the loss of fader control. We account for this by slightly adjusting the amplifier's settings to ensure the sound fades toward the rear.
• Balanced Sound: The rear speakers won’t overpower the front ones. The front speakers point directly at you, naturally being louder, but the rear speakers surround you with fuller sound. This creates a concert-like experience and adds rich mid-bass, completing your soundscape.

Easy Installation and Support

At Volunteer Audio, we handle the technical details for you. Our kits are nearly “plug-and-play,” with the amplifier’s gains and filters already set. All you need to do is mount the amplifier, run the wiring to the seat and battery, and install the speakers. Hertz / Cicada Audio Subwoofer Kit

Introducing the Hertz / Cicada Audio Add-On Subwoofer Kit—your new add-on bass solution built for our plug-and-play Hertz SP4.900 2-speaker and 4-speaker kits.

This ported and braced dual-10" subwoofer kit transforms your saddlebags into true bass enclosures using the included cut-in template. The 10" subs mount directly into the bag itself, delivering the deep, low-frequency punch your 6×9 speakers can’t reach.

Kit includes disconnect harness to still allow for easy removal of saddlebag.

⚠️ Important Note:

This subwoofer kit is compatible only with our existing plug-and-play Hertz SP4.900 2-speaker and 4-speaker kits when running from a single amplifier.
If your bike is equipped with a 6-speaker or 8-speaker kit, subs cannot be added to the same amp. 

This kit is also not compatible with Harley-Davidson CVO models or CVO saddlebag lids. Any saddlebag lid that was changed from a 5x7 to 6x9 or has 6x9 to 8" adapters will also not work.
