🚨 IMPORTANT UPDATE — VELOCITY AMPLIFIER ORDERS 🚨

We owe everyone waiting on our new Velocity amplifiers an update—and first and foremost, an apology.

This shipment has taken considerably longer than anyone anticipated. We’ve had estimated arrival dates change multiple times, and we know how frustrating that is when you’ve already spent your money and are waiting on your system.

We want to be completely transparent about what happened, where the product is today, and what Volunteer Audio is doing about it.

IT STARTED WITH TYPHOON DOLPHIN

Our container was originally scheduled to be loaded aboard its ship around August 21st.

Earlier in August, Typhoon Dolphin disrupted operations around the major Shanghai and Ningbo-Zhoushan shipping ports. Ships were delayed, port operations were interrupted, and a significant backlog developed that continued affecting vessel schedules after the storm itself had passed. By the time we reached our original August 21st loading window, the shipping system was still working through those delays.

Our container ultimately wasn’t loaded in Shanghai until August 25th—approximately four days later than originally planned.

Unfortunately, that was only the beginning.

THEN CAME TYPHOON SAUDEL

Just as our container was finally getting loaded and underway, Typhoon Saudel created another round of severe-weather disruptions in the region.

According to the shipping information we’ve received on our particular shipment, after getting out of port and into the South China Sea, the vessel encountered additional severe-weather restrictions and was held up for approximately 10 more days before being allowed to continue its voyage.

So this wasn’t one simple delay.

Typhoon Dolphin disrupted the ports → the backlog pushed our original August 21st loading back → our container finally loaded August 25th → Typhoon Saudel and additional severe weather created another disruption → our ship lost approximately another 10 days.

Unfortunately, the problem doesn’t end when the weather clears.

When large numbers of ships are delayed, all of those vessels still have to get back into the shipping schedule. Then they begin reaching destination ports later and closer together, where they still have to be assigned berths, unloaded, processed, and transferred.

It creates a domino effect across the entire supply chain.

That’s why the estimated arrival date we’ve been receiving has changed multiple times and continued getting pushed farther back.

A shipment we originally expected to have around the first week of September is now showing an estimated arrival at the Port of Long Beach around September 24th.

It’s honestly incredible that a shipment that should have been here during the first week of September can end up arriving on the West Coast near the end of the month.

We are frustrated too, and we’re truly sorry our customers have had to wait through it.

IF YOU ARE WAITING ON VELOCITY AMPLIFIERS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT:

We’ve asked about air freight. We’ve looked at expediting. We’re currently working on the possibility of diverting the product directly to our supplier’s location in Southern California once the container reaches Long Beach and then air-freighting or sending it by second-day air to Volunteer Audio in Tennessee.

We’re willing to spend a substantial amount of additional money to shorten this delay wherever we possibly can.

The Velocity amplifiers we’re waiting for are already on the water, and unfortunately, there isn’t anything Volunteer Audio or Velocity can do to make that ship move faster.

When the Velocity amplifiers arrive, the customers who have already placed their orders will be our priority.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR SMOKY MOUNTAIN BIKE WEEK?

This delay has significantly affected our plans as well.

Volunteer Audio will be working Smoky Mountain Bike Week, and our crew has to begin setting up on September 24th.

The rally begins September 26th and runs through October 4th.

We had planned to have this Velocity amplifier inventory available for Smoky Mountain Bike Week. Unfortunately, our container is now showing an estimated arrival at the Port of Long Beach on the same day we’re supposed to begin setting up for the rally—September 24th.

If the container arrives as currently projected and we begin receiving Velocity amplifier inventory during the week of the rally, existing pre-order customers will remain our priority.

The amplifiers will be received, processed, and shipped as quickly as possible to the customers who have already ordered and patiently waited through these delays.

We believe that’s the right thing to do.

We’re not going to prioritize new event sales while customers who trusted us with their money weeks ago are still waiting on their orders.

Existing Velocity amplifier customers come first. Period.

We’ll still be at the rally and look forward to seeing everyone there. While we’re disappointed that these shipping delays have changed our inventory plans, our team will still be available to discuss the new Velocity amplifiers, answer questions, and help customers plan their systems.

TRULY BUILT FOR MOTORCYCLES — FANLESS, SEALED & ALL-WEATHER

The RZP1500.4 was designed for the environment it’s actually going to live in.

The amplifier uses a fanless thermal design. There is no cooling fan and no fan opening in the amplifier chassis, allowing the enclosure to remain sealed from the outside environment.

That’s a major advantage on a motorcycle.

Many high-powered amplifiers used in Harley-Davidson applications rely on cooling fans and ventilation openings. Those designs can work well in protected environments, but motorcycles can expose an amplifier to rain, moisture, road spray, dust and dirt.

The Velocity RZP1500.4 is different.

The rugged aluminum chassis acts as the amplifier’s heat sink, allowing it to dissipate heat without requiring an exposed cooling fan or ventilation opening.

Combined with its IP65-rated construction and sealed outboard electrical connections, this creates an amplifier genuinely designed for riders who actually ride.

It does not include Volunteer Audio’s bike-specific speaker/input T-harnessing, amplifier mounting components or Volunteer Audio pre-tuning.

However, every RZP1500.4 includes our upgraded battery-to-amplifier power and ground harness.

An amplifier capable of producing this much power requires a serious electrical connection. An undersized power or ground cable can cause voltage drop and prevent the amplifier from reaching its full potential.

That’s why we include a properly engineered, upsized Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) power and ground harness.

The included harness features:

  • Upsized Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) power and ground cable
  • Proper wire gauge for the amplifier’s current requirements
  • Correct cable length for motorcycle installation
  • Properly sized fuse protection
  • Direct battery positive and negative connections
  • Sealed connection to the amplifier
  • We don’t want you guessing about wire gauge, cable length or fuse size.
  • Proper power and ground wiring is required for this amplifier to produce its full potential, so we include it with the amplifier.

IMPORTANT — LITHIUM TITANATE BATTERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED

Volunteer Audio strongly recommends upgrading to a Lithium Titanate (LTO) battery when installing this amplifier in a Harley-Davidson application.

The factory Harley-Davidson battery was not designed to provide the sustained current required by an amplifier capable of this level of output.

An inadequate battery can cause excessive voltage drop and starve the amplifier for power. This prevents the amplifier from reaching its full potential and, when continually operated with an inadequate electrical supply, can contribute to premature amplifier failure.

If you’re building a serious high-output motorcycle audio system, the electrical system needs to be capable of supporting it.

AMPLIFIER ONLY MEANS YOU DO THE TUNING

When purchasing the Amplifier Only version, the amplifier’s gains and crossover/filter settings are not pre-tuned by Volunteer Audio.

The installer is responsible for properly configuring:

  • Gain settings
  • High-pass filters
  • Low-pass filters
  • Full-range settings
  • Input configuration
  • Channel configuration

With an amplifier capable of producing this much power, proper tuning is extremely important. Incorrect gain or crossover settings can reduce sound quality and performance and can potentially damage your speakers.
